Why this matters

A Microsoft 365 subscription is not a security program

Most firms we talk to assume their Microsoft 365 plan already covers multi-factor authentication, access controls, and monitoring. The license often includes those capabilities, but in practice, enforcement is usually incomplete.

MFA gets enabled for some accounts and skipped for others. Admin rights accumulate on people who no longer need them. Mailbox forwarding rules sit unreviewed for years. None of that shows up until something goes wrong.

That has real consequences. Cyber insurance claims can be denied when MFA wasn't actually enforced. And business email compromise increasingly targets exactly this kind of account, a trusted mailbox at a business that moves money or sensitive documents.

What we check
  • MFA enforcement, and whether it holds up against phishing
  • Conditional Access and sign-in policies
  • Admin accounts and permissions nobody needs anymore
  • Hidden mailbox forwarding rules
  • Who can add new sign-in methods, and from where
  • External Teams access and device code sign-in
  • Unused licenses you're still paying for
  • Your Microsoft Secure Score

Findings are mapped to frameworks like HIPAA and ISO 27001, with the highest-risk items first.
